Spring Break Wedge Sandals

Spring break is only a short week away and for all of you that are escaping to warmer weather locations I thought I would provide for you a great guide on shopping for wedges! I love wearing wedges. They spruce up any outfit and add a little bit of spunk. Personally, I find wedges to be extremely comfortable and a lot easier to walk in then high heels. For spring break I am traveling to Cancun, Mexico and I’m bringing my favorite wedges for nights I go out and special dinner occasions. Wedges are really great for any occasion but especially for all of you spring breakers. My go to store for buying wedges and basically any shoe is DSW. The selection is huge and you can buy a pair of shoes for an affordable price without breaking the bank. Hopefully by shopping around you can find a pair you love but here are my favorite picks!

These are some of my favorite options DSW currently has online and in their stores. Although these are my top choices, there are still so many options! Happy shopping!

Cheers,

Midterm Tips

Hi everyone! As spring break approaches that means midterms are right around the corner. At American, our spring break is in two weeks meaning that on Monday midterms are taking place. This semester my class load isn’t as daunting as I expected. In previous years I was swamped with work and sometimes you just need a little push to get you headed in the right direction. This year I feel like I definitely need that extra push because my friends and I are headed to CANCUN MEXICO!! I am beyond excited so my thoughts currently are all about warm weather, the beaches, and spending some quality time with my friends (stay tuned for a spring break post). Here are some tips so that we are all prepared for midterms!

Get Organized:

Becoming organized is extremely important. Having your thoughts cohesive will allow you to focus on your tasks without becoming lost in the work. You can become organized by utilizing your planner, making to-do lists, and by starting early!

Use Colors:

Whenever I am studying or writing an outline for a paper, I really enjoy using colored highlighters or pens. The colors are vibrant and fun! They also can distinguish different thoughts making re-reading the notes or outlines easier.

Find a Positive Work Space:

I have to admit I hate the library. I find it so dreary and unwelcoming. I can never accomplish much in the library so I try to find other places on campus. Find a place on campus, in your dorm, or anywhere else that you can accomplish work.

Take a Break:

After accomplishing “x” amount of work, make sure you take a break and treat yourself! It is crucial for you to relax at some point and just take deep breaths in order to de-stress and relax your mind.

Sleep!

Your body needs sleep. It is not healthy to pull all nighters! Try and get a solid night sleep. Even try to take 15 to 30 minute naps to rejuvenate your body!

Treat Yo’ Self!

As I channel my inner Parks and Rec, make sure you also treat yourself. When you finish exam or submit a final paper, go out and do something for you! Buy a trinket online, eat some good food, or hang out with your friends.

Hope these tips help during midterms!

Cheers,

Founders Day Ball

For those of you that don’t know I am a student at American University. I love my school and every February, American celebrates its founding date by throwing a ball! The ball consists of faculty, students, and alumni. It is always held at a famous DC landmark such as a museum, a sports center, or even a library. Tickets are free and they include food, desserts, and lots of dancing! This is a chance where my friends and I dress up all fancy and go out on the town.

This year American celebrated 123 years since the charter’s approval. In order to celebrate, AU held the ball at the National Portrait Gallery. It is a beautiful Smithsonian museum dedicated to art. One of the best parts of Founders Day is that we can tour the museum and the exhibits. The museum is open just for the ball at night and individuals attending the ball received unlimited access to the exhibits.

I went to the ball with a group of sorority sisters. We all dressed up and had a classy evening. I wore this lacy black and tan dress from Ann Taylor Loft (I got it on sale for only $30!). It was so much fun to walk around the museum all dressed up. The ball had an assortment of food. They were delicious and served as my dinner for the evening. They also had some great desserts including macaroons, cookies, mini cheesecakes, and much more.

My friends and I danced the night away. Throughout the museum their were live bands and djs. We danced the night away and my feet were feeling the pain after an hour! There was also a fun photo booth that we all took apart in. We received free copies of the pictures and they really show how much fun we had!

This years Founders Day ball was one for the books! I had a great time and I am so happy I went! Happy 123rd Birthday American University!

Cheers,
