One for the Books

Hello everyone! This past weekend was absolutely amazing and one for the books! As a senior my time at American University is slowly coming to a close, but this past weekend allowed me to create some great memories and explore DC.

The weather has been absolutely gorgeous so my friends and I decided to spend Friday afternoon lounging on the quad. We all broke out our Lilly tumblers and iPod speakers to enjoy the sun and each other! Quadding has always been a fun activity to do at AU so it was great to get out there and not worry about work, class, and studying.

On Friday the University also held a senior picnic. This wasn’t your traditional picnic. Our president hosted a catered event at his private home to celebrate the graduates. Wow oh wow was his house beyond spectacular. It was a dream home with an open floor plan, big windows, and a white kitchen. Although I was fawning over this whimsical house I also enjoyed the food, which included pulled pork, BBQ chicken, lots of mac and cheese, as well as cake pops for dessert! The house even had a huge waterfall in the backyard!

As the picnic came to a close my friends and I parted because we had to get ready for our LAST SORORITY FORMAL EVER! This formal was at a local art museum called the Blind Whino! The location was great and I loved looking at the different pieces of art. In the middle of the dance floor was a paper mache cherry blossom tree! For this formal I wanted to wear something that screamed spring! I purchased this periwinkle dress over Easter break from Lord and Taylor. The best part about my formal wear was my newly purchased Steve Madden heels! I felt like a star wearing these bad boys!

As the weekend progressed my boyfriend and I decided to explore DC. Since the weather was so nice we wanted to walk around and do touristy activities that we usually would not do. We headed over to the Renwick Gallery. The art gallery was composed of contemporary artwork. I loved going and it was on my DC bucket list for a long time. To cool off from the heat we also headed to DC’s oldest bar for an oyster happy hour! On Sunday was our sororities last philanthropy event as well! It was such a great event filled with 90s games for a great cause!

It was a fabulous weekend and I am so glad I created a bunch of wonderful memories before my senior year ends!

Cheers,

L
