Tea Time Thursday: Positano

Exactly a year ago from today I was traveling to my favorite place in the world. Little did I know then that I would fall so deeply in love with a city that I would spend less then 24 hours in. Like I mentioned in my last tea time post, I had the wonderful opportunity to study abroad in London. Throughout my time there I decided to explore the rest of Europe. I decided to embark on a journey to Italy. For all of you that don’t know I am 100% Italian. My great grandparents came over from Italy via Ellis Island. Italian culture has been deeply rooted within my family and I was fortunate enough to get to step foot on the country that generations before me called ‘home.’ Within Italy I knew I wanted to check out the Amalfi Coast. The colorful houses stacked on top of each other, the food, and of course the ocean views seemed to be perfect. Within my Italian adventures, I stumbled upon a small city within the coast called Positano. As my friends and I were driving throughout the city the roads were extremely narrow and on the side of mountains over looking the ocean. It was so breath taking.

Once arriving my friends and I navigated the streets and the little shops. We came across a lemon shop, which the city is known for. Fresh lemons hung from the trees and there was an abundance of them. The locals make limoncello which is an Italian lemon liquor. If you ever get the chance try it, it is delicious!

After shopping we headed down to the beach area and ate a fantastic restaurant. Accompanied with my fresh gnocchi was a glass of white wine and a pristine ocean view.

As the day came to a close I promised myself that I would travel back to the city that stole my heart. When I arrived back in Rome (where our hotel was) I was talking to my Mom who then told me that my ancestors used to live in Positano. It explains my deep feelings toward the perfect city. I am so happy that I had the opportunity to walk the streets my grandparents once did. I promise that I will return one day, and for all you folks that have never been before I highly suggest you put this location at the top of your list! You won’t be disappointed!

Arrivederci!
