Summer Time Bucket List

With warmer weather finally insight you can say I am a happy camper! DC has been non-stop rain for the past couple of weeks and it has taken a toll on my mood. With the sky’s being gray and everything being wet all I did was stay inside, work, and prepare for the future. But, the past two days have been incredible. The sun is out, the flowers are blooming, and it’s been about 85 to 90 degrees here! I hope the weather stays this incredible and it has me thinking of all the things I want to do this summer. I have compiled a list of to do’s this summer!

Travel!

With free time on my hands before my full time job begins I want to travel. Whether that I go somewhere exotic or a road trip with friends, it is time to explore! I love traveling because it allows me to see new things and gain a new perspective!

Swim with a big pool floaties!

Lately I have been seeing these giant swan floaties or a pizza slice floatie. They look like so much fun! I would love to hop on a swan or a pizza floatie and just relax!

Take a bike ride!

Back home my town has an awesome bike path. This path over looks different lakes and intertwines with nature. I haven’t been on the bike path in a few years but it would be great to go again!

Make ice pops!

Making homemade ice pops is always a fun way to get yourself in the kitchen during the summer but with something cool and refreshing. You can find any great ice pop recipes online or you can create your own!

Read my long TBR list!

I love to read but between school and work it is hard to find time to read. This summer I finally want to crack open some of the books that I have. I can’t wait to read Me Before You and Love and Gelato.

Try something new!

I know this bucket list to do is very vague but I would love to try something new. It could really be anything! Some of the things I have in mind include getting my boating license, water skiing, trying some new cuisine, and camping!

Let me know what is on your summer bucket lists!

 Cheers,

L

I Made It!

May has been a month full of transitions for me! This blog post is sort of a catch up for all of you since I have been absent. I hope this catches you up on my life but can also explain why blogging has taken a back seat these past two months! Once life settles down blogging is going to become a priority I promise!

During the first weekend of May I graduated college! My oh my has the past four years really flown by. I never even imagined that my graduation day would come. Everyone always told me to make the most out of my four years in college and I really believe that I did make the most of it. I held numerous leadership positions on campus, joined a sorority, was involved in community service coalitions, worked, and made the most amazing memories I could ever imagine. I met my best friends at American, discovered my passions, and fell in love with Washington, DC.

As I walked across the stage to receive my diploma, it all hit me. I am beyond grateful for the opportunities I have had at American. I am sad to see it all end but the University has shaped me to become this young woman ready to conquer the world!

Here are some great pictures of the special day!

Another reason why I have been so busy is because I am moving!! My current roommate and I found an amazing new apartment complex in Arlington, Virginia. It is super convenient to both of our new jobs and from the roof top terrace you can see the monuments. It is the ideal apartment building because it is in our budget, has great amenities, and I get my own room (which I haven’t had since before college)! We are in the process of moving everything in, purchasing new furniture, and decorating! I can’t wait to show you all my new living spaces so stay tuned!

Thank you all for continuing to come back to District of Prep despite my long absence. It means a lot that you all care and want to know more. Thank you for being patient as I go through a transitional time period!

Cheers,

L

Quick Mother’s Day Gifts

Hi everyone! The past couple of weeks have been super hectic and busy. I am currently getting ready to graduate college (eek)! Between finishing finals, getting my life together, and participating in senior week activities, blogging has unfortunately taken a back seat. Once life quiets down a little bit I’ll be back in full swing so stay tuned!

With Mother’s Day this Sunday I wanted to compile a list of quick gifts to get your momma! Since I have been so busy I completely forgot Mother’s Day was just around the corner. For all of you last minute gift shoppers, here is a great list of gifts you can buy!

Great for traveling and early morning at the office! These mugs also come in a bunch of other designs!

These candles are currently on sale! They will make any room smell wonderful. Also how cute are the labels?!

Everyone deserves a customized massage or facial! See if there is a Massage Envy in your town so your Mom can sit back and relax! I have been to Massage Envy before and I always walk out feeling refreshed.

This cute trinket dish can be used for many purposes! Get this for you Mom so she can put her jewelry on or have an afternoon snack! Also head over to Paper Source to see more Mother's Day gifts!

I hope this short and sweet list helps you find the perfect gift for you Mom!

Cheers,

L
